I feel like nobody really liked Neville until he got hot. I never heard of him being anyone’s “favorite character” until after HPP1 and HPP2. I can understand liking him for his courageous acts (although many other characters also displayed courage), but I feel like this is just an excuse because they can’t say he’s their favorite because he suddenly got extremely good looking.

Excuse me? You obviously are not listening to the right people then. He’s been one of my favorite characters since my dad read the first book to me. At that time in my life, I felt like Neville was basically a boy version of me. I didn’t fit in with my peers at all, none of my classmates ever really thought I was important or worth anything, I wasn’t sporty or athletic or any of that, I was very clumsy, and after having lost my mom to breast cancer when I was 6, I felt more alone and separate from other people than most can imagine. Especially in a very tiny school with very judgmental kids as your classmates. Neville was like me, the odd one out, the one people made fun of all the time, and as time went on and I started growing up, I saw him grow up and become braver and more sure of himself, too. It was encouraging, and he helped shape me as much as Harry, Ron, and Hermione did. So don’t assume that everyone only likes him because Matthew Lewis got hot. (Especially because to me, he got flipping adorable in the fourth and fifth movies.)

^AGREED^ Neville was ALWAYS my favorite male character! He was always the awkward kid who I could relate to. It’s a plus that he got hot, but he will always be the awkward little bamf to me :3

Neville was loved far before puberty did him a few favors.
